Cystic echinococcosis (CE) is a zoonotic disease caused by the tapeworm <i>Echinococcus granulosus</i> sensu lato (s.l). In the intermediate host, this disease is characterized by the growth of cysts in viscera such as liver and lungs, inside of which the parasite develops to the next infective stage known as protoscoleces.
