The ParABS system, composed of ParA (an ATPase), ParB (a DNA binding protein), and parS (a centromere-like DNA), regulates bacterial chromosome partition. The ParB-parS partition complex interacts with the nucleoid-bound ParA to form the nucleoid-adaptor complex (NAC).
