Respiratory viruses are a major trigger of exacerbations in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Airway neutrophilia is a hallmark feature of stable and exacerbated COPD but roles played by neutrophil extracellular traps (NETS) in driving disease pathogenesis are unclear.
