Rift Valley fever (RVF) is a mosquito-borne zoonotic disease caused by RVF virus (RVFV). RVFV infections in humans are usually asymptomatic or associated with mild febrile illness, although more severe cases of haemorrhagic disease and encephalitis with high mortality also occur.
