Ontology highlight
ABSTRACT: The objective was to identify predictors of mortality in hospitalized patients with Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever (CCHF). A case-control study was conducted on patients hospitalized with CCHF from 2012 to 2022. Risk factors for mortality in CCHF patients were analyzed using logistic regression. A total of 86 patients with a median age of 36 years (interquartile range [IQR], 27-36 years) were included, and the majority were males (78, 90.7%). Thirty-one patients (36%) were cases, whereas 55 (64%) were control patients. Based on univariate logistic regression analysis, patients who were in an age group of ≥40 years (odds ratio [OR]: 4.85; 95% CI: 1.8-12.4) or with presence of gum bleeding (OR: 2.66; 95% CI: 1.0-6.8), unit increase in white blood cell count (WBC) (OR: 1.09; 95% CI: 1.00-1.0
