A review on toxic effects of pesticides in Zebrafish, Danio rerio and common carp, Cyprinus carpio, emphasising Atrazine herbicide.

ABSTRACT: The widespread use of pesticides has emerged as a pressing environmental concern nowadays. These chemical compounds pose a significant threat to aquatic organisms due to their toxic effects. Zebrafish and common carp are two common species used in pesticide toxicity studies. Atrazine, a widely used herbicide, is one of the most prevalent globally, detectable in nearly all surface waters. This article examines existing literature to provide a comprehensive review of the toxic effects of Atrazine on Zebrafish and common carp. The findings reveal that exposure to atrazine triggers a range of biochemical, physiological, behavioral, and genetic alterations in these fish species, even at concentrations deemed environmentally relevant. These changes could have severe consequences, including incre
