Plants employ distinct mechanisms to respond to environmental changes. Modification of mRNA by <i>N</i><sup> 6</sup>-methyladenosine (m<sup>6</sup>A), known to affect the fate of mRNA, may be one such mechanism to reprogram mRNA processing and translatability upon stress.
