The species <i>Turpinia affinis</i> Merr. et Perry 1941 is widely distributed throughout southwestern China. In folk medicine, this species is often used as a substitute for the Chinese medicine Turpiniae Folium, whose legal origin is <i>T. arguta</i> (Lindl.) Seem.
