Neutrophil infiltration and subsequent extracellular trap formation (NETosis) is a contributing factor in sterile inflammation. Furthermore, neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) are prothrombotic, as they provide a scaffold for platelets and red blood cells to attach to.
