The impact of consanguinity on the design of iPSC banks.

ABSTRACT: The effect of consanguinity on identifying universal induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) donors, i.e., homozygous for the major human leukocyte antigen (HLA) loci, is unknown. The discovery sample size was calculated in a consanguineous population using a method (1qF) based on the inbreeding coefficient. The result was orders of magnitude smaller compared to the standard method.
