Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is the most aggressive subtype of breast cancer, affecting younger women and women of minorities. The nomenclature "triple negative" is derived from the absence of the three most common breast cancer biomarkers: progesterone receptor (PR), estrogen receptor (ER), and human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2).
