Temporary Microaxial Support in a Patient With Multiple Post-Myocardial Infarction Mechanical Complications: Bridge to Transplantation.
Ontology highlight
ABSTRACT: A 66-year-old man with post-myocardial infarction ventricular septal rupture, apical aneurysm, and pseudoaneurysm presenting in cardiogenic shock received a surgically placed temporary microaxial transvalvular left ventricular assist device. This stabilized hemodynamics and end-organ function, and he subsequently underwent successful heart transplantation. A temporary microaxial transvalvular left ventricular assist device can effectively bridge patients with select mechanical complications of myocardial infarction beyond ventricular septal rupture.
