Fossil evidence for silica biomineralization in Permian lycophytes.

ABSTRACT: This paper reports the first in-situ fossil evidence for silica biomineralisation in Permian plants. The discovery reinforces the significant role that land plants have played in influencing the evolution of Earth systems in deep time.
