ABSTRACT: Despite infection and sepsis being a major public health challenge, early detection and timely management are often hindered by several factors. These includes the similarity of clinical presentations between infectious and non-infectious conditisons, as well as limitations of current diagnostic methods such as lengthy turnaround times and low sensitivity. Consequently, there is increasing interest in identifying biomarkers that can quickly and accurately differentiate bacterial sepsis from other inflammatory processes, whether infectious or non-infectious.
