Effect of sodium glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors on all cause death and rehospitalization for heart failure in patients with acute myocardial infarction.

ABSTRACT: The impact of sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 inhibitors (SGLT2-i) on reducing the risk of all-cause mortality and rehospitalization for heart failure (HF) in patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) remains unclear. This study aims to evaluate the effect of SGLT2-i on all-cause mortality and rehospitalization for HF in patients diagnosed with AMI. A comprehensive search was conducted in PubMed, Web of Science, the Cochrane Library, and Embase for relevant studies published up to May 2024, following the PICOS principle. Eligible studies included randomized clinical trials and cohort studies comparing SGLT2-i with placebo regarding all-cause mortality, rehospitalization for HF, cardiovascular mortality, and the incidence of nonfatal MI in AMI patients.
