Factors Associated with the Severity of ERCP-Related Complications: A Retrospective Single-Centre Study.

ABSTRACT: Objectives: Risk factors for post-endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) complications have been extensively studied and are well established; most complications are mild and self-limiting. This study aims to identify patients at risk of severe early post-ERCP complications. Methods: We conducted a retrospective cohort study with data from 2810 ERCP procedures performed at Ghent University Hospital between 2016 and 2022. Patient records and a maintained ERCP registry were used to identify all ERCP-related complications and possible risk factors. The AGREE classification was used to determine the severity of the complication.
