A Systematic Review of Community-Based Exercise Interventions for Adults with Intellectual Disabilities.

ABSTRACT: Background: Adults with intellectual disabilities are a particularly inactive sub-population who experience disproportionally poorer health and social exclusion when compared with the wider general population. This systematic review aimed to identify whether community-based exercise interventions were theoretically underpinned, whether they had an active single- or multi-exercise component, and how the interventions were objectively and/or subjectively measured, as well as deducing if they improved the health of this population. Method: A systematic search of five databases was conducted up to May 2024. The study was registered in PROSPERO and followed PRISMA reporting guidelines. Study methodological quality was appraised using the Critical Appraisal Skills Programme. Risk o
