Translation, cross-cultural adaptation, reliability, and validity assessment of a Turkish version of the oral and systemic health impact profile for periodontal disease (OSHIP-Perio).

ABSTRACT: The development of the Oral Health Impact Profile-49 (OHIP-49) and its shorter version, OHIP-14, has been criticized for not adequately considering the influence of systemic health on Periodontal health. The lack of a Periodontal status domain in OHIP scales has led to the proposal of the development of a new profile, Oral and Systemic Health Impact Profile (OSHIP-Perio). The newly developed profile has not undergone translation into other languages, cross-cultural adaptation, or validation and reliability testing. The primary objective of this study was to conduct a cross-cultural adaptation, validation, and reliability assessment of the Turkish translation of OSHIP-Perio for the first time.
