Comparison of visfatin levels before and after non-surgical periodontal therapy: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

ABSTRACT: Periodontitis is an inflammatory disease and involves a severe inflammation of the periodontium. On the other hand, visfatin is known as one of the inflammatory markers and can probably preserve inflammation in immune cells. Therefore, the purpose of this systematic review and meta-analysis is to compare the mean visfatin level before and after non-surgical periodontal treatment (NSPT). In this systematic review and meta-analysis, to find relevant studies, PubMed, Web of Science and Scopus were searched. Google Scholar was used to review gray literature. Standardized mean difference (SMD) along with 95% confidence interval (95%CI) was calculated.
