ABSTRACT:

Background

Triglyceride glucose (TyG) index and atherogenic index of plasma (AIP) are indicators of insulin resistance. However, inadequate evidence indicates that the TyG index, AIP, and chronic pain are linked.

Methods

Data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) between 1999 and 2004 were used. Directed acyclic graphs were used to identify 11 potential confounders. The TyG index and AIP were treated as continuous variables in the multivariate logistic regression models to assess their association with chronic pain. Furthermore, the nonlinear relationships between these indices and outcomes were investigated using restricted cubic spline plots.
