The impact of expressive writing of deep feelings about labor experiences on postpartum depression: a randomized clinical controlled trial.

ABSTRACT:

Objective

This study aimed to evaluate the expression of deep feelings about labor experiences in a virtual group of peers on the rate of postpartum depression.

Methods

This randomized clinical trial was conducted on 154 women who had given birth at a public hospital in Birjand city, in the North East of Iran, between May and October 2019. The participants were randomly allocated into two groups using four permuted blocks (the emotion expression and the control group). The participants fulfilled the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale and a demographic questionnaire 6-72 h after delivery.
