Nasal Spray Disinfectant for Respiratory Infections Based on Functionalized Silver Nanoparticles: A Physicochemical and Docking Approach.

ABSTRACT: Respiratory diseases have presented a remarkable challenge during modern history, contributing to important pandemics. The scientific community has focused its efforts on developing vaccines and blocking the transmission of viruses through the respiratory tract. In this study, we propose the use of stable silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) functionalized with tannic acid (TA) and sodium citrate (SC) as a nasal spray disinfectant (NSD). The non-ionic ethoxylated surfactant Tween 80 (T80) was added to enhance the wetting effect on nasal and oral tissues following spray application. We analyzed the physicochemical properties of the AgNPs and the NSD, including zeta potential, polarity, morphology, composition, particle size, and distribution. The results indicated spherical AgNPs ranging from 3 to
