Successful Balloon Atrial Septostomy in a Premature Infant.

ABSTRACT: Balloon atrial septostomy (BAS) has been a life-saving procedure for neonates with dextrotransposition of the great arteries (d-TGA) for nearly 6 decades. Yet, its application in premature and/or low-birthweight infants has been underexplored. Our case highlights a successful BAS in a 1.4-kg 2-day-old ex-30-week infant with d-TGA and a restrictive septum.
