ABSTRACT: Silicon (Si) is important quasi-essential element, important for growth and productivity in plants by abetting abiotic and biotic stresses. In the recent times intensive cultivation in India has led to depletion of available Si in soils leads stagnation in the crop productivity. In this study, out of 88 rhizobacterial isolates, 24 potential isolates having significant silica solubilizing capability and exhibited plant growth-promoting characteristics were characterized at biochemical and molecular level and further to study their effect on plant growth stimulation and augment the absorption and accumulation of active silica in plants. In qualitative method, all 24 SiS-RB isolates were able to form clear zone of silica solubilization with the solubilizing index (SSI) in the range of 1.05-3.
