Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever Virus Africa 1 Lineage in Hyalomma dromedarii Ticks, Algeria, 2023.

ABSTRACT: We conducted a Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever virus (CCHFV) survey of Hyalomma spp. ticks collected from camels in southeastern Algeria. Of 138 tick pools, 1 was CCHFV positive; the sequenced strain belonged to the Africa 1 genotype. Healthcare professionals in Algeria should be aware of this detection of a circulating pathogenic CCHFV genotype.
