Brachial plexus compression following a laterjet procedure.
Ontology highlight
ABSTRACT: We present a case of a 45 year old man with brachial plexus compression 7 months after a Laterjet procedure for correction of anterior shoulder instability. His examination and investigations indicated plexus compression at the cord level, affecting the medial and lateral cords. Brachial plexus exploration revealed a residual pectoralis minor band that was still attached to the coracoid and was transposed with it to the anterior glenoid, causing compression of the underlying cords. We report on the first such case and outline the importance of pectoralis minor release. We then review the literature to describe the incidence, mechanisms and prognosis of brachial plexus compression associated with the Laterjet procedure to better understand and manage this complication.
