Medial meniscus tears are quite common. Controversy exists over the efficacy and indications for arthroscopic partial medial meniscectomy. Some authors suggest that surgery may be indicated for patients with mechanical symptoms. There is no gold-standard method to define or detect mechanical symptoms.
