Associations between sleep and circadian rhythm disruption and perinatal anxiety.
Ontology highlight
ABSTRACT: This review summarizes findings on the role of sleep and circadian rhythm disruption in perinatal anxiety. Sleep disruption is concurrently and prospectively associated with anxiety in pregnancy and postpartum. Findings on circadian rhythm disruption and perinatal anxiety are mixed. Treatments targeting sleep may be most beneficial for reducing anxiety symptoms when delivered during pregnancy. Extant findings suggest sleep and circadian rhythms play a role in perinatal anxiety and its treatment.
