ABSTRACT: This work reports the development and application of a sustainable zinc-based coordination compound, [Zn-(Bz-COO)2]∞, for the detection of emerging contaminants, specifically the synthetic dyes alizarin violet (AV) and methylene blue (MB), in shrimp samples. The material was characterized using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, powder X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetric analysis, Brunauer-Emmett-Teller surface area analysis, and Raman spectroscopy. The extraction of contaminants was performed using multivariate optimization evaluating (i) adsorbent-to-sample ratio (1:1, 1:5, and 1:10 m/m) and (ii) eluent nature (low, medium and high polarity). As a result, the coordination compound presented a high specific surface area (5216 m
