Predictive model of public health impact of herpes zoster vaccination and related costs for adults aged ≥50 years in Republic of Korea.

ABSTRACT: Given the rapidly aging population in South Korea, the growing incidence and burden of herpes zoster (HZ) increase the need for HZ prevention. However, the public health impact of HZ vaccination has not been assessed in South Korea. This predictive modeling study estimated the public health and economic impact of available HZ vaccination strategies, using the ZOster ecoNomic Analysis (ZONA) model adapted with South Korea-specific inputs. Base case analysis involved adults ≥50 y of age (YOA), exploring three vaccination strategies (no vaccination/recombinant zoster vaccine [RZV]/zoster vaccine live [ZVL]) under mass vaccination (70% coverage) settings. Scenario and sensitivity analyses were performed. In the base case population of 23,329,743 people, without vaccination, 6,978,500 HZ and 73
