Characterization of the ABA receptor PYL gene family and identification of DoPYL1-interacting proteins in Dendrobium officinale.

ABSTRACT:

Background

Abscisic acid (ABA) plays a crucial role in plant growth, development, and stress responses. The pyrabactin resistance-like (PYL) ABA receptor proteins, which are key components of ABA signal recognition and transmission. Dendrobium officinale is a precious traditional Chinese medicinal plant with known drought resistance. Nevertheless, the PYL genes of D. officinale, along with other orchid plants, remains unanalyzed.

Results

In this study, the PYL family was identified from D. officinale, consisting of 11 PYL proteins. A phylogenetic analysis showed that these DoPYL proteins were classified into three subfamilies. All the DoPYL proteins featured both Motif 1 and Motif 2. Notably, the members of subfamily I and III were intron-less, while those of subfamily II co
