ABSTRACT: Background
Refugee populations, particularly Somali refugees, face disproportionately high rates of trauma-related common mental disorders (CMDs) due to prolonged exposure to war, forced displacement, and post-migration adversities. Traditional diagnostic models often conceptualize CMDs, including posttraumatic stress, depression, anxiety, and somatic symptoms, as distinct disorders, overlooking the symptom-level interconnections that sustain psychological distress. This study employs network analysis to examine the structure of PTSD, depression, anxiety, and somatic symptoms, identifying central symptoms that may represent important areas for further investigation in the development of culturally responsive mental health interventions. Methods
