Rotaxanation is an efficient method to control the tetrazine-mediated inverse electron demand Diels-Alder (IEDDA) reaction. Tetrazine rotaxanes were synthesized in high yield by crown ether active template applied to the nucleophilic aromatic substitution of tetrazines.
