EGFR-TKIs with or without stereotactic body radiotherapy to primary lesion in the advanced EGFR-mutated non-small cell lung cancer.

ABSTRACT:

Background

Advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) with epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutations remains challenging due to resistance to EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs). This study evaluated the efficacy and safety of combining EGFR-TKIs with stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) to primary lesions in EGFR-mutant NSCLC patients.

Methods

This was a retrospective analysis with 58 EGFR-mutant NSCLC patients who were treated from 2018 to 2023; the included patients were divided into TKIs plus SBRT (n=15) and TKI alone (n=43) groups. Clinical outcomes, including progression-free survival (PFS), overall survival (OS), and toxicities, were assessed.

Results

A total of 485 patients with advanced NSCLC were screened, and 58 patients were eligible for enrol
