Identification of lysine crotonylation-driven molecular clusters and immune dysregulation in HBV-related hepatocellular carcinoma via bioinformatics and machine learning.

ABSTRACT:

Background

Lysine crotonylation is a novel post-translational modification (PTM) associated with various diseases, but it has not been fully investigated for its predictive role in hepatitis B virus-related hepatocellular carcinoma (HBV-HCC). Our current study characterized lysine crotonylation-related genes (LCRGs) to identify HBV-HCC molecular clusters and we developed a predictive model for HBV-HCC.

Methods

Microarray gene expression data from 170 HBV-HCC tissues and 181 non-cancerous liver tissues (from patients with HBV) were downloaded from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database (GSE55092, GSE121248, and GSE47197). We conducted a thorough examination of differentially-expressed LCRGs (DE-LCRGs) expression and immune characteristics in both HBV-HCC patients and cont
