A V-band high-gain gap waveguide-based slot array antenna with circular polarization.

ABSTRACT: A high-gain circularly polarized (CP) slot array antenna is developed in the current work, based on ridge gap waveguide (RGW) technology for V-band applications. This antenna operates in the unlicensed 60-GHz band, which is designed for high-data-rate wireless communication systems. An asymmetric T-shaped slot is utilized in this design as the radiating element, ensuring compactness and lessening grating lobes. The array's structure features a 16 × 16 planar configuration and a corporate feed network. As shown by experimental and simulated results, there is a 3-dB axial ratio (AR) bandwidth and an impedance bandwidth of 6.6% spanning the frequency range of 58 to 62 GHz. Thus, an efficiency of up to 90% and a peak gain of 29.2 dBi is achieved. The performance of the manufactured antenna, en
