The neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), a simple marker of systemic inflammation, may assist in differentiating polycythemia vera (PV) from secondary polycythemia (SP), especially when access to JAK2 mutation testing is limited due to cost or delayed turnaround.
