Complications and outcomes of radioligand therapy in patients with neuroendocrine neoplasms depending on the baseline glomerular filtration rate.

ABSTRACT:

Purpose

Neuroendocrine neoplasms (NENs) represent a rare group of neoplasms originating from neuroendocrine cells in almost any part of the body. One of subsequent line of treatment is radioligand therapy (RLT) with use of beta-emitting isotopes. The most common adverse events are deterioration of kidney and bone marrow function. The aim of the study was to assess the differences in complications and outcomes of RLT between patients with initially low and normal renal function.

Methods

Study group included 127 patients with progressive NENs who underwent one cycle of RLT. Renal, bone marrow, glucose, and chromogranin A were assessed before Course I, Course IV and in follow-up. A representative subgroup of 44 patients reported for long-term visit.
