Association of serological biomarkers with muscle strength and function in sarcopenia: a cross-sectional study.

Objectives

This study investigated the relationship between serological biomarkers and sarcopenia, with a focus on muscle strength and physical function.

Materials and methods

A cross-sectional exploratory study was conducted involving 77 patients admitted to the General Practice Department, Longyan First Affiliated Hospital of Fujian Medical University from April 2023 to April 2024. Patients were sorted into the sarcopenia group (n = 32) and the without-sarcopenia group (n = 45). Skeletal muscle mass was determined using dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry, and handgrip strength and physical function were assessed through standard tests.
