Global, regional, and national burden of kidney cancer, 1990 to 2021, and projections to 2050: A Global Burden of Disease Study 2021.

ABSTRACT: Although the Global Burden of Disease Study (GBD) 2019 offered important insights into kidney cancer, no research has yet examined the updated GBD 2021. Therefore, utilizing the GBD 2021, this study provides updated estimates of kidney cancer burden, identifies attributable risk factors, and projects future trends through 2050. Data on the global and regional burden of kidney cancer from 1990 to 2021 were extracted from the GBD 2021, stratified by age, sex, Sociodemographic Index (SDI), and geographical region. Mortality-to-incidence ratio and annual percentage changes on mortality, disability-adjusted life year (DALY), and incidence were analyzed to assess trends of the burden.
