ABSTRACT: Background
It is unclear whether desflurane, one of the most-used volatile anesthetics in clinical practice, is less likely to induce postoperative cognitive dysfunction (POCD). We here compared early postoperative cognitive function of the isoflurane and desflurane patients and explored the diagnostic performance of relative level of LINC01844 in peripheral blood for POCD.Methods
Eighty-five patients underwent lumbar surgery under general anesthesia were included in the study according to inclusion and exclusion criteria. Patients were randomly allocated to either isoflurane (I) or desflurane (D) study arms. A battery of 7-item neurocognitive tests was performed repeatedly on one day preoperatively and 1st, 3rd and 5th day postoperatively (POD1,3,5) and peripheral blood sa
