Complete mitochondrial genome of the yellow-lined snapper, <i>Lutjanus rufolineatus</i> Valenciennes, 1830 (Pisces, Lutjanidae), and notes on its phylogeny.

ABSTRACT: We report here the complete mitogenome of the yellow-lined snapper, Lutjanus rufolineatus (Valenciennes, 1830), from the Philippines. Primers designed from other Lutjanus species were used to amplify target regions via long-range PCR. The complete mitogenome (16,513-16,514 bp) had 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 22 transfer RNAs (tRNAs), two ribosomal RNAs (rRNAs), and one non-coding control region. The maximum likelihood phylogenetic tree inferred from the PCGs shows that L. rufolineatus shares a most recent common ancestor with L. kasmira and L. bengalensis. This newly characterized mitogenome contributes to the growing genetic resources for lutjanid fishes and provides a foundation for future research.
