Nuclear imaging and echocardiographic findings in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy with and without ATTR-CM.

ABSTRACT:

Aims

Patients with transthyretin amyloid cardiomyopathy (ATTR-CM) often experience delayed diagnosis, which may detrimentally impact clinical outcomes. This study aimed to assess the frequency of use of planar scintigraphy with and without single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) screened for ATTR-CM in the TTRACK study. Variability in readings based on different readers, tests and radiotracers used in cardiac nuclear imaging, and differences in echocardiogram findings between patients with and without ATTR-CM were explored.

Methods

Patients aged ≥50 years with HCM (left-ventricular wall thickness ≥15 mm without an identified cause) underwent diagnostic technetium-99m [99mTc]Tc-DPD [3,3-diphosphono-1,2-p
