ABSTRACT: Data collection commenced under the auspices of a collaborative global health partnership by the Child Health and Mortality Prevention Surveillance (CHAMPS) network to investigate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and related lockdowns on child and maternal health, economic hardships, and access to care for children and pregnant women. Survey data were collected between January and August 2022 within a Health and Demographic Surveillance System (HDSS) in Western Kenya. The data were gathered using a survey instrument designed to measure household knowledge and awareness of COVID-19, experiences of economic and social hardships, changes in food availability, and challenges to accessing healthcare during the pandemic.
