Quantitative 99mTc-MDP SPECT/CT for predicting neoadjuvant chemotherapy efficacy in osteosarcoma.

ABSTRACT:

Background

Osteosarcoma (OS) is one of the most common primary malignant bone tumors. At present, research on the value of quantitative 99mTechnetium-methylene diphosphonate single photon emission computed tomography/computed tomography (99mTc-MDP SPECT/CT) for predicting neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) efficacy in OS is limited. The purpose of this study was to assess the predictive value of quantitative 99mTc-MDP SPECT/CT in predicting NACT efficacy in OS.

Methods

This retrospective study collected 99mTc-MDP bone scans and quantitative 99mTc-MDP SPECT/CT data of all OS patients from February 2019 to February 2025 at Beijing Jishuitan Hospital, Capital Medical University. The NACT efficacy was assessed based on postoper
