Hybrid Endovascular Repair of Complex Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms in Takayasu Arteritis.

ABSTRACT:

Background

Takayasu arteritis (TA) is a rare large-vessel vasculitis that can lead to vascular complications, including aneurysm formation.

Case summary

A 30-year-old woman with TA, treated with oral steroids and azathioprine, presented with shortness of breath. Computed tomography angiography revealed multiple infrarenal aortic pseudoaneurysms, but intervention was delayed owing to active disease. Once her condition stabilized 1 month later, she underwent hybrid endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR). Two months later, she developed a right popliteal artery pseudoaneurysm after vascular access for a type II endoleak, which was managed conservatively.

Discussion

The anatomical complexity of this case demanded a tailored, innovative approach. A hybrid surgical procedure c
