Dataset Information

Changes in the incidence of notifiable infectious diseases before, during, and after the COVID-19 pandemic in Mainland China.

ABSTRACT:

Background

Nonpharmaceutical interventions (NPIs) have positive effects on curbing the COVID-19 pandemic, but the spread of other infectious diseases remains unknown.

Objective

This study aimed to explore the incidence of notifiable infectious diseases (NIDs) at different stages of the COVID-19 pandemic in Mainland China.

Methods

We extracted monthly cases of NIDs from the National Health Commission of the People's Republic of China from January 2020 to December 2023. The infections were classified as blood-borne/sexually transmitted diseases, intestinal diseases, zoonotic/insect-borne diseases and respiratory diseases. The Joinpoint regression model was used to quantify the temporal trends of NIDs by calculating annual percentage changes (APCs).
