The impact of body composition and systemic inflammatory markers on postoperative complications in early-stage cervical cancer.

ABSTRACT:

Objective

Patients with cancer often present with alterations in body composition and systemic inflammation. Guided by this observation, we sought to determine whether these factors are associated with postoperative complications in early-stage cervical cancer.

Methods

In this retrospective cohort study, we analyzed data from 223 patients with early-stage cervical cancer treated at our center between July 2018 and December 2021.Postoperative complications were graded using the Clavien-Dindo classification. Systemic inflammatory markers were calculated from hematological parameters, while body composition indices were derived from computed tomography (CT) images at the third lumbar vertebra (L3) level and patient's height.
