ABSTRACT: Background
Improving medication use is important in patients with cognitive impairment and dementia. In memory clinics within primary-care settings, pharmacists perform structured medication reviews targeting medication-related problems in this population. The impact of pharmacist-led medication reviews in such clinics has not been examined previously. However, implementing research in clinical environments is fraught with challenges. Thus, this research focuses on identifying barriers and facilitators that would impact the implementation of research projects examining medication reviews in primary-care based memory clinics. Methods
We conducted a qualitative study using focus group discussions with pharmacists, physicians, care partners, and other healthcare professionals.
