Design and Synthesis of Planar Chiral Bisphosphine Ligands Based on Diphenyl [2.2]-Paracyclophane.

ABSTRACT: Planar chiral bisphosphine ligands based on diphenyl [2.2]paracyclophane (PhPhanePHOS) were successfully synthesized in a practical manner in four steps from commercially available 4,12-bisbromo-[2.2]paracyclophane as a new family of bisphosphine ligands. The novel PhPhanePHOS ligands provide high catalytic activity in Pd-catalyzed asymmetric allylic alkylation reactions in preliminary experiments.
